The Harlem Quartet will perform a program of jazz and jazz-influenced American music, including music by composers such as Billy Strayhorn, Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Walter Piston, and Guido Gavilan. The Harlem Quartet is a string quartet founded by the Sphinx Organization, and whose mission is to advance diversity in classical music. The quartet has been praised for its “panache” by The New York Times, and is the resident ensemble at the New England Conservatory of Music’s Professional String Quartet Program.
